Abstract
Progress has been made in the understanding of photorespiration and related proteins (Rubisco, glycolate oxidase and glycine decarboxylase) in the con text of recent structural information. Numerous shuttles exist to support t ransamination, ammonia refixation and the supply or export of reductants ge nerated or consumed (via malate-oxaloacetate shuttles) in the photorespirat ory pathway. A porin-like channel that is anion selective represents the ma jor permeability pathway of the peroxisomal membrane.
