Various types of mineral and drinking waters have been tested for the simul
taneous determination of Ra-226 and Ra-228 using 3M's EMPORE(TM)Radium Rad
Disks. Both radionuclides Ra-226 and Ra-228 were counted through their daug
hter products, Ra-226 by the conventional radon emanation technique and Ra-
228 through its daughter Ac-228 by using a proportional counter. 0.2 M diam
monium hydrogen citrate adjusted by ammonia to pH 7.8 was used for radium s
tripping from the disk and 3.10(-4) M diammonium hydrogen citrate was used
for actinium washing from the disk.
