Gas thermochromatography is a promising method in combination with neutron
activation analysis. The procedure includes heating of irradiated samples i
n a stream of reacting gas carrier (air, chlorine, etc.) or heating in pres
ence of compounds evolving gas at high temperatures. Gaseous products are p
assed through a tube with certain temperature gradient filled with various
sorbents and the gases condense in different parts of the column. Studies o
f the processes of producing and trapping of Volatile compounds allowed to
work out various set-ups of apparatus with sorption tubes of various length
and Various temperature gradients, various filters, sorbents, etc. Sensiti
vity of these methods is sufficiently better then in INAA.
