The effects of 2.45 GHz microwave irradiation as well as of the combined mi
crowave and 6 MeV accelerated electron beam treatment of the human erythroc
yte membranes at liquid nitrogen temperature are presented. The changes in
the properties of the erythrocyte membranes were estimated by measuring the
haemolysis degree (HD) of the irradiated samples. HD induced by microwave
irradiation for 1-2 min irradiation time and 400-500 W microwave power of t
he installation is about 50% from that of the control sample. Preliminary r
esults on the simultaneous irradiation by both kinds of radiations as well
as of the successive irradiation procedure are presented and discussed.
