Thermal decomposition of sodium 5-aminotetrazolate was studied in its first
stage with FTIR, Two pathways of the tetrazole ring cracking are found. wi
th evolution of sodium azide or hydrogen azide from the imino-form, The sol
id residue contains of sodium hydrocyanomide, sodium salt of cyanomelamine
and trisodium salt of tricyanomelamine. The scheme of their formation is su
ggested.
