Abstract
We isolated Bordetella holmesii, generally associated with septicemia in pa tients with underlying conditions, from nasopharyngeal specimens of otherwi se healthy young persons with a cough. The proportion of B. holmesii-positi ve specimens submitted to the Massachusetts State Laboratory Institute incr eased from 1995 to 1998.
