In this paper, the stochastic saltwater-freshwater interface location in co
astal aquifer is sought, subject to the uncertainty of input parameters suc
h as hydraulic conductivity, freshwater outflow, and pumping rate. The boun
dary element method, combined with an optimization technique, is used as th
e tool for deterministic solution to search for the interface location. A s
econd order perturbation technique is employed to find the statistical mome
nts of the prediction. Three saltwater intrusion examples of different geom
