Abstract
In this study, a boundary formulation for calculating moments of an arbitra ry closed planar region is proposed instead of calculating moments using th e domain integral. The Gauss' divergence theorem is used to transform momen ts of area into boundary integrals. Three examples are demonstrated to show the validity of the proposed method. Results obtained from the boundary fo rmulation are compared with analytical solutions, and good accuracy is obta ined. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
