Abstract
Buryat soils differ from their European analogs in a number of microbiologi cal characters: the populations of the bacteria of saprotrophic complex are one to two orders of a magnitude larger, while the taxonomic diversity is significantly lower. Bacteria resistant to drying and starvation (actinomyc etes, bacilli, arthro-bacter) dominate in these soils. Yeast species typica l for most soils of different climatic zones are absent. The adaptation of microorganisms to soils, which are frozen and dried, is discussed.
