The results of the study on gamma-radiolysis of aerated alkaline aqueo
us solutions of Pu(VI) are presented. It was determined that G[-Pu(VI)
] is equal to 1.4 ion/100 eV, irrespective of alkali concentration wit
hin the examined range (from 1.3 to 6.9 mol/l). It was found that a fi
ne suspension and, afterwards, a precipitate of Pu(IV) hydroxide were
formed. A plausible mechanism of radiolytic conversions was discussed.
