The concentrations of neon and hydrogen atoms in metastable and resona
nce states, as well as the concentration of atomic hydrogen, were dete
rmined in a de glow discharge in mixtures of neon with H-2 (1 vol %) a
nd CH4 (1 vol %) at pressure 13-520 Pa and a discharge current ranging
from 5 to 100 mA. The mechanisms of excitation, ionization, and disso
ciation processes observed experimentally were studied. it was demonst
rated that the emitting states of neon and hydrogen were excited in a
stepwise mode from the metastable and resonance states, and the main i
onization channel was Penning ionization.
