Abstract
The photodegradation of free and complex cyanides in aqueous medium in homo
geneous and heterogeneous systems irradiated by UV and near-UV light has be
en investigated. Polycrystalline TiO2 was used as photocatalyst. The kineti
cs of free cyanide photo-oxidation in heterogeneous systems is well describ
ed by the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model. The degradation of Fe(III) complex cy
anides in aqueous medium under UV or near-UV radiation is also kinetically
