Aorto-pulmonary window (aorto-pulmonary septal defect) is an uncommon
congenital cardiac malformation which is repaired using cardiopulmonar
y bypass. A case Is described of an infant with a small aorto-pulmonar
y window which was closed by transcatheter insertion of a double umbre
lla device. Complete occlusion of the defect was achieved without comp
lications. Transcatheter umbrella closure of a small aorto-pulmonary w
indow is feasible in infancy and the technique is likely to be applica
ble in a few cases.
