Frequency-doubled Nd:YAG lasers have been frequency stabilized against the
hyperfine structure components of I-127(2) by means of the sub-Doppler freq
uency modulation technique. A frequency stability of 3 x 10(-13)tau(-1/2) h
as been obtained for integration times between 10(-3) s < tau < 10(2) s wit
h an estimated reproducibility of about 1 kHz (2 x 10(-12)). The hyperfine
spectroscopy of the rovibrational Line P(54)32-0 has been performed and the
iodine hyperfine constants have been calculated. The pressure shifts of th
e hyperfine components a(1), a(2), a(10), and a(15) have been measured.
