Seasonal hydrographical and nutrient parameters were studied at 45 sta
tions in the Amvrakikos Gulf, during 1987. Distribution of water prope
rties suggest that surface salinity remains very low throughout the ye
ar (16.8-34.8 parts per thousand), resulting in strong stratification
of the upper layer. Nutrient concentrations within the waters of the s
tudy area are presented and comparisons are made with nutrient concent
rations in other Greek coastal waters.
