Spectroscopic study of complex formation between aliphatic amines and chromogenic calix[4]arene derivatives

The complexation properties of two new calix[4]arene derivatives were studi ed by UV/Vis spectroscopy. They have been found to bind aliphatic amines, l ithium and calcium ions in equilibrium reactions, particularly in polar sol vents. The reaction is indicated through the emergence of a new band. The e quilibrium constants of complex formation in the case of some ligand-substr ate compositions have been determined. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All r ights reserved.
