Carbonyl iron silyl complexes of the type Cp(CO)(2)Fe-SiH2R (Cp = cyclopent
adienyl) (R = H (1), Me (2)) were subject to a very interesting photochemis
try. They were isolated in krypton matrices and subsequently detected by FT
-IR spectroscopy. To study the photochemistry of these complexes, IR spectr
a were taken after UV irradiation. As a result of the observed differences
in the spectra, the reaction mechanism for the photochemical conversion of
these compounds, which we postulated on the basis of Raman measurements ear
lier, is now confirmed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
