Abstract
The thermal decomposition of polycrystalline Fe(IO3)(3) at temperatures up to 600 degrees C has been monitored by spectroscopic techniques. The Fe-57 Mossbauer spectrum of Fe(IO3)(3) showed a single absorption peak at room te mperature. A magnetic splitting component of small intensity appeared after heating Fe(IO3)(3) to a maximum temperature of 370 degrees C while singlet completely disappeared from Fe-57 Mossbauer spectrum after heating Fe(IO3) (3) to 470 degrees C. alpha-Fe2O3 was found as the solid product of the the rmal decomposition of Fe(IO3)(3). FT-IR and laser Raman spectra were also d iscussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
