In this paper, examples are given of recent measurements made at the Daresb
ury Synchrotron Radiation Source on four short-lived diatomic molecules. Th
e equipment designed to overcome the difficulties of interfacing reactive s
pecies with the ultra-high vacuum environment of a synchrotron radiation so
urce is described. The measurements presented have been selected to show th
e advantage of using a continuum;source of radiation in identifying new str
ucture in the photoionization continuum of these molecules.
