Rr. Chitnis et al., Recovery of actinides extracted by Truex solvent from high level waste using complexing agents I. Batch studies, J RAD NUCL, 240(3), 1999, pp. 721-726
This work deals with the batch studies on stripping of actinides extracted
bq a mixture octyl(phenyl)-N,N-disolubutyl-carbamoylmethylphosphine oxide (
CMPO) and tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in n-dodecane (Truex solvent) from si
mulated high level waste (HLW) solution. The stripping of americium and plu
tonium from acid-bearing CMPO-TBP mixture is carried our using a mixture of
weak acid, weak bart and complexing agent as strippant. A mixture of formi
c acid, hydrazine hydrate and citric acid appeared to be best suited for ef
ficient stripping of americium and plutonium. With appropriate modification
s in the concentration of individual constituents, this strippant can be us
ed for the recovery of actinides from loaded Truex solvent with any acid co
ntent.
