Abstract
The salient features of the Ginsparg-Wilson fermion in topologically nontri vial background gauge fields are outlined. The R-invariance of the zero mod es, the indices and the index theorem on a finite lattice are illustrated. The role of R in converting the nonlocal D-c into a sequence of highly loca l D is demonstrated.
