Abstract
As far as design of direct injection spark ignited engine is concerned, the fuel injector is a key component for success. Internal flow simulation is the best adapted tool for the design of the internal geometry of the inject or. First, simulations of the internal flow will be discussed, especially t ransient stages of an injection event as well as the prediction of the fuel characteristics at the nozzle exit. Second, a coupling between internal fl ow calculations and instability model in order to predict initial spray cha racteristics will be suggested.
