K. Kawahara et al., A NEW APPROACH FOR BRONCHOPLASTIC PROCEDURES IN THE TREATMENT OF BRONCHIAL CARCINOID-TUMORS, The thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon, 43(5), 1995, pp. 290-292
Usually patients with typical carcinoid tumors originating in a segmen
tal bronchus undergo segmentectomy with or without a bronchoplastic pr
ocedure. We have performed only sleeve resection of the bronchus for a
bronchial carcinoid tumor located in the left basal bronchus thus pre
serving the lung tissue. This was made possible by transecting and rea
nastomosing the pulmonary artery.
