Abstract
Engineering thermoplastics like PET, PET and polyamides are used in a large variety of value-added applications, like electrical and electronics, auto motive, industrial, machinery, appliances and also in polymer alloys and bl ends. Many of these applications require flame retardancy. Albemarle has a broad and excellent range of flame retardants (SAYTEX(R) HP -7010, 8010, BT-93, BT-93W) on offer to this important market. The advantag es of these flame retardants versus a series of competitive products will b e described. SAYTEX(R) HP-7010 is a new brominated polystyrene, with a higher bromine co ntent (higher efficiency), better colorability, improved electrical propert ies (e.g. CTI), better thermal stability and better properties (mechanical, impact, etc., both before and after oven aging) versus competitive commerc ial systems.
