Ra. Shagidullina et al., The effects of cetylpyridinium bromide micelles on the kinetics of alkaline hydrolysis of alkyl p-nitrophenyl chloromethylphosphonate, RUSS CHEM B, 48(2), 1999, pp. 278-281
Study of the kinetics of alkaline hydrolysis of alkyl p-nitrophenyl chlorom
ethylphosphonates in micellar solutions of cetylpyridinium bromide showed t
hat the observed rate constant depends an the hydrophobicity of the substra
tes. A minor increase in the length of the alkyl chain in the substituent i
ncreases the catalytic effect in the series Et < Bu < C6H13. Further increa
se in the substrate hydrophobicity results in a decrease in the bimolecular
rate constant in the micellar phase.
