Abstract
A set of equations is derived on the basis of the pore population balance e quation and the random sphere model, allowing description of the kinetics o f gas-steam activation of carbon adsorbents, taking into account the effect s of pore growth and overlap. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental data on the kinetics of activation of synthetic and natural c arbons with water vapor and air at various temperatures.
