We explore the influence of an anomalous chromomagnetic moment kappa o
n the production characteristics of top quark pairs at the Fermilab Te
vatron with a center-of-mass energy of root s = 1.8 TeV. We find that
for top quarks in the 175 GeV mass range, present measurements are pro
bing values of kappa of order 0.25. We discuss a class of technicolor
models with techniscalars which may produce such large values of kappa
in conjunction with the generation of m(t). For kappa's in this range
we find that significant enhancements in both the q (q) over bar, gg
--> t (t) over bar production cross sections are obtained. Once suffic
ient statistics have been accumulated and QCD uncertainties are under
control, future high precision measurements at the Fermilab Tevatron w
ill eventually be sensitive to values of kappa with magnitudes smaller
than similar or equal to 0.1.
