Abstract
The characteristics of all-optical switching in a waveguide device with a d istributed-feedback structure were experimentally investigated. The device was composed of a strip-loaded GaInAsP/InP waveguide and a distributed-feed back structure, which was fabricated by a combination of reactive-ion etchi ng and electron-beam exposure. In the experiments, several optical switchin g operations were demonstrated. In particular, the all-optical set-reset op eration and threshold operation were obtained.
