30 undergraduates were given a list of 10 common daily tasks with the
experimental group being provided a mnemonic peg system but not the co
ntrol group. Subjects were asked after 24 hours to recall as many of t
he 10 daily tasks as possible. To establish baseline recall scores for
both groups, the memory of IO different daily tasks without the use o
f mnemonic devices was tested. There were no significant differences i
n baseline recall between the two groups; however, the posttest differ
ence between the two groups after 24 hours was significant.
