Abstract
Treatment of the coordinatively unsaturated osmium trimethylstannyl complex , Os(SnMe3)Cl(CO)(PPh3)(2) 1, with either pyridine (py) or sodium acetate r esults in methyl migration from tin to osmium, giving the structurally char acterised complexes, Os(Me)(SnClMe2)(py)-(CO)(PPh3)(2) 2 or Os(Me)(SnMe2OC[ Me]O)(CO)(PPh3)(2) 3, respectively: the methyl migration is reversible and treatment of Os(Me)(SnClMe2)(py)(CO)(PPh3)(2) with CO gives the trimethylst annyl complex, Os(SnMe3)Cl(CO)(2)(PPh3)(2).
