Synthesis and crystal structure of europium complex [Eu2C40H46N6O8 center dot 2(NO3)]

The title complex [Eu2C40H46N6O8 . 2 (NO3)] was prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction. The Ligand is dischiff base from o-vanillin and dieth ylenetriamine. The complex crystallizes in monoclinic system, space P2(1)/c , a = 1.654 6(3) nm, b=1.651 9(3) nm, c = 1.580 7(3) nm, beta = 91.81(3)deg rees, V = 4.318(2) nm(3), D-x = 1.795 Mg . m(-3), z = 4, mu = 2.955 7 mm(-1 ), F(000) = 2 320, the final R=0.058, R-w = 0.076. In the complex the coord ination number of Eu(II) is 8 with a geometry of bicapped trigonal prism. T he coordination atoms are oxygen atoms and nitrogen atoms.
