Abstract
Rotation-induced 5Q <-> 1Q coherence transfer (RIACT) for 5Q MAS NMR experi ments is shown unequivocally for O-17 (I = 5/2) for compounds with quadrupo lar interactions in the range similar to 3-7.3 MHz. 5Q RIACT has distinct a dvantages over the methods used to excite 5Q MAS NMR hitherto through much reduced sensitivity to the electric field gradient. It is also less sensiti ve to spinning speed than 3Q RIACT on an I = 5/2 nucleus whilst producing s imilar signal intensity. The 2D 5Q RIACT O-17 spectrum of zeolite Na-A is b etter resolved than the previously published higher field 3Q spectrum with all three sites being clearly visible. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
