Abstract
Experimental results of refining and nitriding pf High Nitrogen Steels in a n air-tight plasma furnace are presented The one-stage Pressure Plasma Melt ing Process (PPMP) was realized under elevated pressure up To 0.5 MPa for a high Cr and Mn steel. Metallic calcium or CaF2-Ca allay were used as the r efining agent. The steel ingots cast under elevated pressure were hot forge d to receive round bars and after their solutioning the samples were prepar ed fa determine their mechanical properties.
