The energy and time distributions of the decay X-rays of excited, metastabl
e, molecular (d mu He)(*)-resonances were measured. The comparison of the o
bserved energy spectra with calculated ones suggests that decay from the ro
tational state J=1 dominates at the investigated conditions. The muon trans
fer rates from ground state deuterium to the helium isotopes He-3 and He-4
at low temperatures were determined from the time distributions of these sp
ectra. Additionally, the temperature dependence of the muon transfer rate w
as clearly established in deuterium / He-4 mixtures.
