Abstract
A new spread-spectrum-based synchronization and geolocation method is prese nted in this letter. The synchronization method is based on determining the round-trip time between nodes. By using a spread-spectrum technique, delay s of processing handshaking messages and switching transceivers from receiv ing mode to sending mode do not incur any inaccuracy. The geolocation metho d integrates our synchronization technique with the triangulation method, w hich is commonplace in geolocation systems. This new synchronization and ge olocation method provides a cheap, efficient, and effective way to synchron ize nodes and render location information in a wireless environment.
