Abstract
Cathonic Vacuum Arc Evaporation (CVAE) is capable of depositing different c oating architectures of both monolayer and multilayer types of (AlxTiy)N co atings. The coating composition can be varied both by cathode composition a nd by the applied bias voltage. It was found that (AlxTiy)N coatings are ve ry suitable for dry cutting and cutting of hardened steels.
