L. Li et al., Effect of thermal processing condition on mechanical properties of composites made from air-jet commingled yarn, J ADV MATER, 30(3), 1998, pp. 44-47
Air-jet commingled yarn of 50:50%wt glass fiber/polypropylene filament was
manufactured to study, the effect of thermal processing condition on the me
chanical properties, of composites. Unidirectional thermoplastic composites
were fabricated in a sheet mold in a hot press. The bending test of air-je
t commingled yarn composites was performed on DCS-500 tester by using three
-point lending system. Void content of composites was measured according to
ASTM D792. Experimental results showed that bending strength and modulus o
f composites was affected by processing condition(temperature, pressure and
time) within specified range.
