Wa. Gazotti et al., A solid-state electrochromic device based on complementary polypyrrole polythiophene derivatives and an elastomeric electrolyte, J APPL ELEC, 29(6), 1999, pp. 753-757
A device was assembled using optically transparent glass electrodes and com
bining two complementary electrochromic polymeric materials, poly(4,4'-dipe
ntoxy-2,2'-bithiophene) and poly(N,N'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyrrole). As electrol
yte we used an ionically conductive polymer; poly(epichlorohydrin-co-ethyle
ne oxide) containing a lithium salt. The optical contrast in the visible/ne
ar infrared region, stability to repeated redox cycles and electrochromic e
fficiency are reported and discussed.
