The generation of [PhSeF] and its use for fluoro-selenation of alkenes
and alkynes were achieved by the electrochemical oxidation of dipheny
l diselenide in Et3N . 3HF-CH2Cl2-(Pt) system at 0 degrees C. On conti
nuing the oxidation, the initially formed fluoroselenides could be tra
nsformed to fluoroolefins via selenoxides and the selenenylating reage
nt could be recycled for fluorination of cyclic olefins. (C) 1997 Else
