Abstract
The solvolyses of p-methoxybenzyl chloride (1) in 39 solvents are well corr elated using an extended form of the Grunwald-Winstein equation; a claim th at nucleophilic participation is greater than in the solvolyses of the corr esponding bromide 2 is discussed.
