A. Ito et al., The measurement of transient two-dimensional profiles of velocity and fuelconcentration over liquids, J HEAT TRAN, 121(2), 1999, pp. 413-419
We recently developed two different optical techniques in order to simultan
eously measure transient two-dimensional profiles of velocity, temperature,
and fuel concentration that were generated by a spreading flame over liqui
d fuels. One technique employs a particle-track system combined with a lase
r-sheet system (LSPT) and a high-speed camera, while the other technique em
ploys dual wavelength holographic interferometry (DWHI). The LSPT system re
vealed transient two dimensional profiles of flame-induced flow while DWHI
revealed two-dimensional profiles of fuel concentration over liquids. In th
is paper we present a series of velocity profiles for a pulsating flame spr
ead over 1-propanol and concentration profiles for gaseous 1-propanol deter
mined with LSPT and DWHI, respectively.
