Magneto-optical contrast in near-field optics

We propose a simple calculation of near-field magnetooptical (MO) images ba sed on the beam propagation method. We calculate both Faraday rotation and circular dichroism contrasts of planar magnetic structures such as as-grown thin films and ion-irradiated samples, High- contrast near-field MO images are obtained, in good agreement with our experimental observations.
