EPR spectra were recorded in order to prove complexation of Cu2+ and VO2+ i
ons by some conducting polymers. Poly(1,8-diaminonaphtalene), poly(1,5-diam
inonaphtalene) and poly(o-aminophenol) matrices were used to trap these ion
s. The g values for the studied comlexes are significantly higher as compar
ed with the respective values for aqua complexes of vanadium and copper (II
) salts (e.g. VOSO4. 5H(2)O and CuSO4. 5H(2)O). It was interpreted in terms
of spin-orbit interaction and delocalization of unpaired electron on the p
olymeric ligands. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
