Abstract
Thermoluminescence (TL) of OH--doped RbCl and RbBr was investigated from a dosimetric point of view. RbCl :OH- exhibits a simple glow curve with only one peak at about 100 degrees C which is drastically quenched by increasing the dopant concentration, a linear response to doses up to 20 Gy and moder ate fading. RbBr : OH- shows a more complex glow curve with peaks at about 70 degrees C, 175 degrees C and 230 degrees C, All components, with the exc eption of the high temperature peak which is detected only at relatively hi gh doses, are strongly modified by thermal and optical fading, No linearity is found in the TL response to dose, which exhibits saturation. Deconvolut ion of the plow curve reveals the occurrence of six TL peaks, whose dose de pendence was investigated. In general, OH--doped rubidium halides exhibit n o satisfactory features for radiation dosimetry. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights, reserved.
