Abstract
A new modified tetrapyridylporphyrin symmetrically coordinated to four [Ru( phen)(2)Cl](+) groups has been synthesized and its structural and electroch emical properties have been investigated by means of H-1 and COSY NMR, UV-v is and luminescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochem istry. The presence of the phenanthroline ligands has improved the stabilit y of the molecular films generated on the surface of conventional solid ele ctrodes in comparison with the analogous bipyridine derivative. The perform ance of the modified electrodes has been evaluated for the detection of dop amine, with excellent results. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
