Abstract
Various sigma (a) ligands including (+)-pentazocine stimulated [S-35]GTP ga mma S binding in synaptic membranes from the mouse cerebellum. The (+)-pent azocine-stimulated [S-35]GTP gamma S binding was blocked by the treatment o f membranes with pertussis toxin (PTX), but completely recovered by the rec onstitution of PTX-treated membranes with recombinant G(11), but not with G (oA) These findings suggest that metabotropic a receptors are selectively c oupled to G(11) protein.
