Abstract
In HIV-infected patients, community-acquired pneumonia due to Streptococcus pneumoniae is more common, more often associated with bacteremia, and more likely to recur. The epidemiology of this condition is discussed based on a literature review. Factors predictive of mortality in severe cases manage d in intensive care units are analyzed.
