Abstract
The calculation of numbers of coupled nucleon pairs in the shell model is c onsidered. The relation of J = 0 and T = 0 pair numbers to the competition between low T = /T-z/ and T = /T-z/ + 1 levels in doubly-odd nuclei is poin ted out. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
