The behavior of magnesium and barium hexafluoroacetylacetonate mixtures on
heating was studied by thermal analysis and vacuum sublimation methods. It
was demonstrated that the transfer of the mixture components into the gas p
hase and the sublimation of the pure compounds proceed under almost the sam
e conditions. The lack of a notable mutual influence is explained by the fo
rmation of a mechanical mixture of the components in the course of their cr
ystallization. X-ray structural analysis was carried out for magnesium hexa
fluoroacetylacetonate dihydrate Mg(Hfa)(2)(H2O)(2): space group C2/c, a = 2

ed octahedral coordination environment with distances Mg-O 2.05-2.07 Angstr
