Abstract
Diaminoanthraquinones (DAAQ) and silver were sequentially evaporated onto a substrate at a temperature of 300 K. The thickness ratio t(Ag)/t(DAAQ) was about 0.2. The deposited films were analysed by means of optical absorptio n (IR, visible, near-UV), Raman scattering, X-ray diffraction, scanning ele ctron microscopy and photoelectron spectroscopy. Two diaminoanthraquinones were used, the first, 1,4-DAAQ, has an intramolecular hydrogen bond, while the other, 2,6-DAAQ, has not. The comparison of the results obtained with t hese two different sample families shows that no complex salt formation occ urs between the Ag and the 2,6-DAAQ while interdiffusion and complex salt f ormation are found to occur between silver and 1,4-DAAQ. The degree of char ge transfer (CT) is amplified by annealing. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
